Fee Policies
Our annual Registration fee is $25 per student. The fee is paid at the beginning of the Fall Semester.
Tuition is due 24 hours before the first lesson of each month. A late fee of $30 will be charged automatically to payments not received on time.
We accept Venmo and Zelle, which most banks have as part of their online banking services.

Recitals
Annual Spring Recital
There are two formal Student Recitals per academic year. Each student is required to perform.
There will be a recital fee of $40 per student (per recital), due in September and February. The recital fee is NOT refundable. All students are required to pay the recital fee whether the student can make it to the recital or not.

Studio Policy
Time
- Lessons will be thirty (30), forty five (45), or sixty (60) minutes.
- Please arrive on time. Lessons will not be extended beyond the scheduled time slot.
Lessons
- Lessons are conducted either in-person or online.
- If the student is feeling under the weather (or anyone in the household has a fever), lessons can be rescheduled or done virtually.
- If the student or anyone in the household has tested positive or been exposed to COVID-19, the lesson will be virtual.
- Students are encouraged to wear a mask during piano lessons.
- If the instructor or someone in the instructor's household is feeling ill, lessons will be virtual to minimize risk.

Please bring the following to every lesson:
- Your piano books
- Pencils
- A dedicated notebook
Payments
- Lessons are billed monthly, at least 7 days before the first day of the following month.
- Payment is due 24 hours before your first lesson of each month, unless paying by semester.
- A late fee of $20 will be charged automatically on payments not received on time.
- Cash, Venmo, and Zelle are accepted.
Cancellations & Rescheduling
- Lessons cancelled with 24 hours' advance notice can be rescheduled to a weekend.
- Lessons may be rescheduled due to performances, with 1–2 weeks' notice except in emergencies.
- Cancellations under 24 hours or no-shows are forfeited, except for COVID-19 illness, family emergencies, or accidents.
- Any make-up lessons will be conducted online via Zoom.
Practice Time
- Students are expected to practice 15–30 minutes every day, depending on level.
- Regular practice maximizes the value of each lesson.
- We focus on quality practicing rather than quantity.
Parental Involvement
- Parental support is crucial to each student's success. Children will not remember everything assigned at the lesson — your role is to guide, practice alongside, and nurture enthusiasm.
- The dedicated notebook is our means of weekly communication about assignments, progress, and rescheduling reminders.
Online Lessons
- Device setup per the Online Lesson Checklist must be completed 15 minutes before the lesson.
- All technical requirements as per the Online Lesson Checklist must be met.
- Parental supervision is required for the first 3 or more online lessons for tech support and student engagement.
Recitals & Performances
- There are two formal Student Recitals per academic year. Each student is required to perform.
- A recital fee of $40 per student is due in September and February — this fee is non-refundable and applies whether or not the student attends.
- The recital fee covers all expenses for preparing the event.
- Any public performance or contest appearance must be approved in advance by the teacher.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a piano at home?
All students must have a keyboard or piano at home to practice regularly. For beginners, a full-weighted 88-key keyboard is a great start. Upgrade to an acoustic piano (upright or grand) at the intermediate/advanced level. Contact our teachers for help choosing the right instrument.
I have a keyboard without weighted keys or 88 keys. Can I still use it?
You can use it to get started, but you'll quickly run out of keys. Weighted keys are essential for building finger strength. Students without a proper instrument often struggle on other pianos because their fingers are weaker and unaccustomed to touch sensitivity.
What is the perfect age to learn piano? Is it too late as an adult?
For children, we recommend starting as early as age 4 depending on focus level. Adults can absolutely start at any age for enjoyment and at their own pace. We use a wide variety of method books structured for young children as well as adult beginners.
What method or curriculum do you use?
Every student is different, so we use different materials for different students. Method books we've used include the Piano Adventures series by Nancy & Randall Faber, Piano Pronto by Jennifer Ecklund, and Hal Leonard.
Do you hold recitals? When?
Our studio holds two formal recitals per academic year — at the end of the fall semester (Halloween or Christmas theme) and the spring semester. There may also be a year-end evaluation by a guest artist invited by Dr. Angkasa.
What equipment do I need for online lessons?
The simplest setup is a laptop with a built-in or attached webcam, positioned to the side of your piano or keyboard. You'll need to download Zoom and have a good internet connection.
What if I miss a lesson?
Students may schedule a make-up lesson on a weekend with 24 hours' advance notice. We also encourage reaching out about doing a virtual lesson in the event of illness, travel, or inclement weather.
